The Chows & Cows Desperate to Milk You!

General Add comments

Two blogs I was closely observing for a week now, johnchow.com and johncow.com. And let me say that, both are desperate to milk you by selling shit!

John Chow is now desperate to make money by promoting crappy products to his readers. There are so many great products and opportunities in the internet market place which gives you opportunity to make money and truly help the buyers of the product. So why promote useless products? Promoting useless products to your loyal readers is something which I feel unethical.

John cow started a copycat site of MillionDollarWiki named as MillionEuroWiki. MillionDollarWiki was not a huge success, but it gained some momentum. I too bought a page to gamble on it and the result was 50% loss of investments. And so when the original site is not able to give any results to its buyers, how do you think the copycats will able to do so? Let me tell you, buying a page on copycat sites of MillionDollarWiki is simply THROWING away your money. If you are itching too much, better buy a page on the original site MillionDollarWiki and at least you have 50% chance of success.

So why John Chow promoting John Cow’s MillionEuroWiki? Well for every sale, John Chow gets a nice affiliate commission. And John Chow doesn’t mind selling shit to his loyal readers. And many newbie’s who come to his blogs get trapped into buying this useless stuff!

Bloggers have right to make money online. And because of the large number of opportunities available today, making money has never been so easy. So why promote SHIT and loose trust of your readers!

Excellent post. I just did a post on my blog about ways to create income streams with a blog or site, and the only place I even touch on ‘sales’ is packaging up your own content for distribution. I think that REVIEWS of other products is ok, but they need to be unbiased views, not reviews that are nothing but a veiled sales pitch.

At the begining I really thought that John CHow could be a role model. But in time, i became desgusted. He is nothing but a sleezy shark, trying to make money from idiots….

  3. lindens man Says:

well they pay him to make a review and a review in John Chow’s blog is 400$. He just gave them a review worth 400$.

  4. Make Money Solution Says:

When I first visited the John Chow website I was under the impression he was teaching and giving advice on how to make money online, and the only thing I have learned so far is something seo in a post that was maybe two weeks ago. From what I see he tends to be another Rosiland Gardner, an affiliate promoting other people’s products. There’s not too much meat in the since that we need to know how to promote rather than be promoted to.

  5. blogtrepreneour Says:

All he does is to pormote other people products, and of course, to win cash from stupid refferals

Who’s not in it to make money?? That’s the whole purpose of money making blogs. He’s just upfront about it where as other ones are more descreet. If I want to know how to make money the sleazy way, I check out johnchow, if I want to LEARN how to make money, I go elsewhere. I personally think the only people that complain are the people who don’t make much and are jealous.

As far as the Wiki page thing, you should have had more sense about it. It’s just like the ol’ saying…if he jumps off the bridge are you gonna too?
You didn’t have to buy a page and it’s not their fault that you bought! You can make up your own mind, do your own research and go from there. I chose NOT to buy a page. Don’t blame someone else for YOUR failures.

  7. Jayne Says:

I’m a little surprised you went for it. When John Chow says he made X amount doing something, you can’t really count on making that same amount doing the same thing unless you have the same following.

However, I think making money online is all about experimenting with different techniques. Not everything that works for one site will work for another. I have 3 blogs, and even notice a huge difference with them. One makes good money with adsense, and the others almost nothing.

But, erm, it’s a little over-the-top to say someone is a bad person simply because he’s selling a product you don’t like. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. KMart sells things I don’t like, but I don’t picket their stores…. I just don’t go in.

    @Lori!
The whole purpose of Money Making Blogs is to Make money and I 100% agree with you. Darren’s Problogger and John chows are two known names for new webmasters and new bloggers to learn various ways to monetize their blogs. The reason they are so popular is because readers TRUST them.

The post was not about me buying a page. I have enough experience to analyze the Crap and the Gems. When I bought a MilliondollarWiki page, I mentioned in my post at http://www.gnaka.com/general/milliondollarwiki-building-momentum that this kind of sites can sometimes bring a lot of traffic to your site or sometimes they are just a waste of money. And I knew I was throwing away money to test it.

Johnchow promoting MillionDollarWiki was not complained. Why? Because it was a new idea which was not tested. You choosed not to buy a page and me did to test it. But we are not newbies. I am into Internet marketing since 2 years and making a decent amount of money from affiliate marketing and you too seems to be somewhere there.

But the post was about luring newbies to buy crappy products (like MillionEuroWiki). With popularity comes responsibility. When you are popular and irresponsible and try to promote products that doesn’t bring any value to your reader, that’s really bad. And if you do it repeatedly, you will no longer be trustworthy. Where there is no trust there is no money!

  9. Lori Says:

Yes, but even newbies should do their homework. I’ve only been blogging 4 money since March and I don’t go where all the hype is unless I think it’s something that has potential for ME. I really don’t put any fault on Johnchow. I agree that his ethics are questionable but he’s pretty honest about how something works. Just because it doesn’t make one person alot of money doesn’t mean it’s not going to work for another. Of course you’re gonna promote something that is working for you. I’ve seen several people that are having a great return on the Wiki page, so you can’t judge by that. AND with any new product/program/venture, it’s going to be hyped up to a point where people will be dissappointed but that applies to anything new. In my opinion, it comes down to the reader. I think it’s essential to do research before starting a new money venture. I feel that it’s MY responsibility to figure out if it’s the right thing for me. I think Darren is a trustworthy role model because he hardly ever sticks in affiliate links or tries to promote something. He explains it and lets you decide. Johchow sticks affiliate links in everywhere and plugs many of his affiliate programs so HE can earn money. That right there should be common sense that one is there to truly help and the other is there to look like he’s helping but more in it to make money for himself. I TRUST Darren..not Johnchow. It’s ultimately the reader’s responsibility to decide what they pursue and who they trust.

    On the side:
I’m one of those gals who are tired of hearing people whine and blame someone else for their failure or problems. I apply this to the blog world and to life in general. I’m kind of a mean ol gal and just have no sympathy for people these days;) I wasn’t directing that statement at you….it’s just how I feel about everyone. I think you make some very valid points and the majority will agree with you, but then it would be no fun if we all agreed;) I hope what I wrote makes some since because I just woke up:) Have a great day!

  10. admin Says:

I absolutely agree with you Lori about people blaming others for their failures or problems. And there is one quote from JIm Rohn for all those who blame other’s:

“For Things to Change, You need to Change.
For Things to get Better, You need to Get Better.”

I absolutely agree with you that People should do some research instead of blindly following advice from any person.

Thanks Lori for your comments! And do keep visiting!

    Cheers!

I agree 100%. But it’s all good. They’re allowed to do “whatever” they like. After all we can too

  13. Cabaret Einstein Says:

well, i already thought those sites you’ve mentioned above are overrated but nonetheless, great post!!

  14. Mike Says:

I don’t have a problem with John Chow pushing affiliate products. I do the same, thats sort of the point of having a site with affiliate links. I personally check out each and every affiliate program, vendor or site and usually set up an account myself. But I dont start pumping sunshine up everyone’s skirt about how fantastic a site is right off the bat. There’s no way I could say ‘yes this is a great program or site’ or whatever on the first day I sign up. The only reason for signing up for affiliate anything and instantly turning into a cheerleader for the product is to generate affiliate traffic. But by the same token..that IS the name of the game if you’re trying to create affiliate residuals I suppose.

  15. steve Says:

I own a few pages on Million Dollar Wiki. When I started buyablogger.com, we had just launched and there were no bloggers on the site. Through the pages I bought on Million Dollar Wiki, we now have nearly 150 bloggers signed up. To me, it has been a good investment. I didn’t buy my pages to make money, just to increase my presence. I knew a lot of people would be searching for “blog” on million dollar wiki.

But its clear that John Chow is just trying to sell out his audience with the Cow, and profit from it. I expected more from him. I don’t think I’ll be reading John Chow anymore. Better stick to dosh dosh.

  16. admin Says:

Thanks everybody for all your comments!

@Steve – Congrats for your success with your pages at MDW. As I said earlier, its a gamble which can work and fail. And I am glad, you got some value from it :)

One more thing, i would like to suggest, if you are into making money with your blogs, you should not stop reading John Chow blogs. Although there is a lot of crappy products promotion, sometimes you find a lot of juice from his blog as said by Lori and others in the above comments. I too personally visit his blog once every couple of days. Only thing one should avoid is following any body’s advice blindly, without any research on one’s part.

And thanks once again! Keep visiting!
