If you want to be a successful Internet Marketer, you need to learn the secrets of Web 2.0. Web 2.0 is far superior to the older ways of doing business on the Internet. In any business model to be successful you need to lead, follow, or get out of the way. Be a leader! Through this article you will lean the four P’s of Web 2.0: Personalization, Participation, Peer-to-Peer, and Predictive Modeling.

Let’s start with Personalization. This is perhaps the most important of the four P’s. Building a personal relationship with your clients is vital. By establishing a relationship and building trust with your client base, you will meet your client’s needs by customizing your products or services using Web 2.0 technology. You accomplish this through your blog, your List, or by Social Networking. Ask your clients and find out what their needs, wants and desires are. Why are they struggling? What are their goals? Surveys are a great way of collecting information. Give it a try and you will be amazed at the results.

Next is Participation. Get out there and get involved! Start to participate in forums and blogs. You can create numerous links to your website by participating in forums similar to the product you are promoting. By posting information of value and having a link to your website or offer in your signature line, you can create a steady stream of highly targeted traffic to your website. Be a guest blogger or comment on a related blog sites. Don’t be shy! This is one method that is highly under-rated. Once I made a commitment to be an active participant in like-minded forums and blogs, the traffic started pouring into my website.

What does Peer-to-Peer mean to you as an Internet Marketer? In the Web 2.0 world, it means your clients are no longer isolated. They interact, they talk to each other, they exchange impressions and they form a collective impression about your product or service – one that you may have influence over. The Peer-to-Peer of the four P’s is most prevalent in Social Book marking sites such as Digg.com and StumbleUpon.com. This means that if one or two visitors find (and love) your site, more than likely, you’ll have 300 visitors by the end of the day. This could quickly turn into thousands, if your site is smart, attractive, innovative, and content rich. What does all of this mean for you as an Internet Marketer? Highly targeted traffic to your website!

Last but not least of the four P’s is Predictive Modeling. Predictive Modeling is how ideas, impressions and trends work in the Web 2.0-enabled world. It is possible to accurately predict how the Web 2.0 market will evolve. This is where the savvy Internet Marketer either leads, follows, or gets out of the way. There are always new trends emerging in Web 2.0. First it was MySpace, FaceBook, YouTube and Twitter. What’s next? Whatever it is, you need to be ready to capitalize on the opportunity to bring targeted traffic to your website.

In conclusion, you should now understand and be able to apply each of the four P’s of Web 2.0: Personalization, Participation, Peer-to Peer, and Predictive Modeling. Each of the four P’s is an important part of being a successful Internet Marketer. By implementing the four P’s of Web 2.0, you will drive highly targeted traffic to your website in droves.

What are you waiting for? Start applying to the four P’s to your Internet Marketing strategy today.

With Google AdWords, you can create and run ads for your business, quickly and simply. No matter what your budget is, you’ll only pay when people click your ads. In this article, I am going to share with you some of the best practices for Google Adwords:1. Choose the right keywords. Before you run any Google Adwords campaign, it is important that you do a thorough keyword research. You need to know the keyword or key phrases that your prospects are using to look for your product or service. One way is to use the free Google Keyword Tool to generate a list of relevant keywords. You can also check on your competitors by visiting their websites and looking at their ads. If you have some budget to invest, you can purchase keyword spying software to get the list of keywords that your competitors are bidding on.

2. Organize your ad groups properly. Ad group organization is one of the most important factors that determine your campaign success. Keywords that are similar should be grouped together. Other than grouping similar keywords together, you should also group them according to keyword search volume. Keywords with more than 10,000 searches a month should go into a high volume ad group, and anything below 10,000 goes into another. Although it takes some time to organize your keywords, it is definitely worth the effort.

3. Write good ad copy. You should state the benefits in your ad copy, followed by the features. Also, place the most important keyword or key phrases in the title of the ad copy to increase its relevancy. Also, do not forget to include call-to-action statements to entice people to click on your ads.

4. Point to ads to the relevant landing page. Landing page is another factor that you must take note if you want to score well with Adwords. Your conversion rate will be higher if you point your ads to the right landing pages. Additionally, you will also be rewarded with a higher quality score, which allows you to pay lesser per click.

5. Split tests your ad copy. Always have 2 ad copies running in one ad group at the same time. Run the ads for a few weeks to determine which ad converts better. Once you have found the winner, delete the loser and create a new ad copy to challenge the winner. Split testing is the key to get more out of your advertising budget, so do not compromise it.

I know, I know. I can hear some of you groaning now! Many of you already have a blog and understand its importance in gaining visibility for your business. But I know many others are still resistant to the idea. You believe it takes too much time and effort, you don’t think you are a great writer, you don’t know how to set one up, you don’t know what to write about….I understand all of the reasons that may be holding you back.

If you already have a traditional, “brochure” style website for your business that’s great. You should keep that as a place for prospective clients and customers to visit to find out more about you and what you offer. I use my blog as my main site, meaning I don’t have a separate, static website. That’s a personal choice. Many people choose to have both, with the blog being linked to from the main site.

If you don’t currently have a blog, there are several important reasons why you should consider it:

Visibility: If you are doing even just some of your business using the web then you obviously need to have an online presence. Having a blog that you post to regularly is a wonderful way to capture and keep the attention of your prospects. When they see that you are posting consistently updated content, they are more likely to return to your site.

Search Engine Optimization: This doesn’t mean you need to study up and implement a ton of SEO techniques yourself. But blogs by their very nature are dynamic, meaning the content is updated often. In Google’s eyes, this is a very good thing-it shows that their users are getting fresh information. A blog is a great way to get your business to rank well in the search engines.

Community Building: By allowing comments on your posts you are promoting conversation and encouraging feedback. It can even help you to perform “market research” and find out what it is your target market needs from you. This feedback can also be helpful for coming up with ideas for future posts.

Positions you as the Expert: Something interesting happens once you begin posting useful content regularly and attracting subscribers. You become seen as a thought leader in your niche. This leads to more opportunities, more relationships and more business. It’s a terrific way to communicate the value of what you have to offer to prospective clients and customers.

Personality Sharing: Blogging gives you a chance to be seen as a real person and not just a business. Be willing to express opinions and let your true self shine through. This will go a long way towards humanizing you in the eyes of your readers.

In my opinion, the best thing about blogging is how simple and quick it is to publish a post at the push of a button. It’s also wonderful to be able to track exactly how many people are coming to your blog and where they are coming from. Just install Google’s free Analytics tool and you can see detailed statistics on your visitors and traffic.

Just begin and get it going. Aim to post once a week. They don’t have to be long posts and they don’t have to be earth-shatteringly brilliant. As with anything, you’ll get better at writing the more you do it. Jot down any ideas that come to you for posts as you go about your day. I keep a file of topic ideas that I think of and I find this helpful to look at if I get stuck for what to write about.

Blogging should be something you carve out time for just as you would any other marketing activity. If you really feel you would have nothing to say to people who may want to hire or buy from you, then perhaps it is just not for you. But I encourage all small business owners who are doing business online to at least give it a try. You never know, there may be people out there just waiting to hear your voice.

Twitter is a fast growing “micro-blogging” service and social network all wrapped into one. After some bumpy roads & strong growing pains the free service that allows hyper-connectedness & an interesting way to express “what you’re doing” at any given time, seems to be on the fast track now to becoming the next mega success story online.

Twitter was founded by Evan Williams, who is no rookie to bringing creative ideas to multi-million dollar reality. Evan was a blogging pioneer and has created & grown web properties that have attracted the attention of the big dogs, including Google.

One of Evan’s past web projects grew to be so huge, in fact, that Google bought him out for a multi million dollar price tag.

Rather than reclining on a beach chair & sipping Coronas for the remainder of his life, Evan decided to try his hand again, when he thought up the concept of “micro-blogging.”

In all our modern day internet hustle & bustle there’s come a need for brevity… short, to the point, yet meaningful messages.

Evan’s idea for Twitter was a service that not only allows people to post short “micro-blog” entries (by enforcing a self-created parameter that only allows users a maximum of 140 characters per post), but also helps people stay connected through the use of followers, text messages, and @replies.

The Twitter faithful are even coining their own new lingo to describe some of the everyday actions that take place on the site. “Tweets,” for example, are the term used to describe each of your short, 140 character or less, posts to update your Twitter profile.

In this article the aim is to go over a simple overview of the everyday things you’ll need to know in order to get started on Twitter & set yourself up for maximum exposure using this free service.

First off, you’ll need to go create an account by visiting the site and following the easy to follow prompts for creating a new account.

Once you’re all setup, be sure to visit the “Settings” tab and customize your profile and also enter a short bio, along with the URL to your website.

In order to double the chances of getting a click, I’d also recommend including a hyperlink within your bio, in addition to the hyperlink you’ll enter in the box for your web URL.

The next thing you’ll want to do is visit the “Devices” tab and get your account setup so that you can send tweets on the go from your mobile phone.

The steps for confirming your mobile device to work with Twitter are easy to follow and you’ll be up and rolling in no time flat.

Once you’ve got your new account created and have configured your settings & mobile, it’s time to start tweeting.

Remember, you’ll be limited to 140 characters per message so choose your words wisely. If you’d like to include a hyperlink with your Tweet you should consider shortening it down using a free tool like Tiny URL, or Snip URL.

Be careful not to come off as too spammy by including links in every Tweet… get involved with the Twitter community and share some of your daily activities with your followers so you can get a real feel for what it’s all about before sucking traffic out… its got to be a give-give relationship!

Now, to really get yourself on the fast track and start adding new followers fast, the best advice is to follow people who you find interesting, and single out those who already have a large followership. Tweet regularly and often using your mobile, the Twitter site, and even handy third party applications like “Twhirl.”

Anytime you see a new Tweet from someone you are following send them an @reply by including the “@” sign + their Twitter username in a message responding to their original tweet.

By sending users an @reply you’ll get their attention, strike up conversations, and best of all – put yourself in the public spotlight so that all of their followers will take notice of you.

Before you know it, you’ll be addicted to Twitter and will have a massive followership as well!

Once you’ve built a followership it’s easy to get visitors to your site by using services like TwitterFeed anytime you post a new blog entry, TweetLater to automatically direct message new followers, and other little known tips & tricks for putting it all on auto-pilot.

Twitter is a new revolution in communications and may be the first glimpse at Web 3.0. I recommend getting setup on Twitter today so you can ride this new wave into the future and enjoy it for all it’s worth!

Unleash the power of inbound linking.

As I have explained before and repeat often, SEO is divided in two parts:

* On-page SEO is what will get your indexed in Google.
* Off-page SEO is what will get you ranked 1 in Google.

Off-page SEO comes down to all the thing you do to promote your site, but anyhow, it all comes down to how many inbound links you generate and their quality.

You have successfully built your website and it is now indexed in Google, congratulation. Now you may realize that your site may not be ranked at the position you’d like it to be… don’t worry, if you are still asking yourself “how do I become the rank 1 in Google?“, then it’s your lucky day.

Getting a high ranking in Google (and most of the search engines) comes down to how good and how many inbound links you generate.

In this post, we are going to review all the methods you can use to generate those inbound links:

* Search Engines Submission. It’s basic, but it’s a good start. Search engines are a good way to get some basics links towards your site.
* Directories Submission. Like for the search engines, it’s another easy way to get more links.
* Article Marketing. By writing quality article, you can quickly spread your links across the internet.
* Press Releases. Assuming you have something newsworthy to share, you can quickly create a buzz and link spread.
* Blogs and Forums. Commenting and participating intelligently in blogs and forums can help generate inbound links.
* Link Exchanges. Trading links is one of the most common ways to acquire inbound links for your site.

Now, getting links is a good thing but it’s not enough by itself. The link itself must fulfill a certain amount of criteria to be of any value when it comes to ranking value.

That’s right; I consider two kinds of links:

* Links that generate traffic. Those kind of links are just gateways for people to come and visit your site, it is possible that they don’t carry any “link juice” or “PR value” due to some special attributes such as rel=”nofollow”; or simply because they are on a page that is not yet indexed or that is indexed in the supplementary results.

* Links that generate ranking. The main purpose of those links is not directly to bring visitors to your site, but rather to show the search engines the value of your site. The quest here is too maximize your PR value. This kind of link should be on a page with less than 100 links with related content. The page itself should have a related title, be indexed, and preferably with a certain PR value.

Ideally, to optimize your work and the value of your links, you would have links that do both: that is increase your search engine ranking position and at the same time generate traffic by acting as a doorway for your visitors.

Now, regardless of the type of links you are working on, there are certain specifications that can absolutely transform the results you’ll get.

Your anchor text.

The anchor text is the part that is linked toward your site. It is imperative that your anchor text contains the keyword for which you wish to rank well. In addition, you should vary that anchor text as often as possible making it look “natural”. No matter the variation in the anchor text, always include your keyword once in it.

Your rank 1 in Google will not come just by linking towards your homepage.

Your entire site relevancy matters. Therefore, you should create and generate inbound links also towards your different pages inside your site. The more “authority pages” you’ll have, the easier it will be to increase the general authority of your site and thus the easier it will be for you to acquire this rank 1 in Google.

A helpful strategy to find good sources from where you should be linked from to gain authority is to study your competition.

Nowadays, blogging has become so popular that it seems that this technology has been around for ages. What is a blog? A blog is like an online journal that anyone can share his or her experience, personal story, or expertise with readers. With WordPress and Blogspot, anyone can start his or her blog online easily. Now, even businesses are using blogs to connect with their prospects and customers.

If you search for particular information in the search engine, you will probably find some of the listings are blogs rather than normal websites. So why search engines love blog so much? A lot of search engine optimization or SEO practitioners have already include blogs as one of their MUST-HAVE optimization tools. Now, let me share with you 3 factors why search engines love blogs and why you must absolutely start a blog now:

1. Fresh content. All search engines love fresh content. A site which updates its content regularly will tend to rank higher on search engine result page. When you run a blog, you will post content regularly to connect with your readers. Whenever you post a new content, search engine spiders will visit your site and they love new content. This will accelerate your SEO process and allow your blog to rank well organically.

2. Unique content. Duplicate content destroy a SEO effort. Unless you are posting other people articles or information on your blog, you should be worrying too much. Nothing beats having unique content on your site when it comes to search engine optimization. If you write your own content, it will be written in a very natural way that will not make search engines feel that you are spamming them with keywords. Sometimes, webmasters purposely stuff too many keywords inside their content which make search engines penalize them and de-list their sites from the indexing. So with unique content on your blog, search engines will reward your blog with good organic rankings.

3. Off-page popularity. Blog is a social networking platform. When you write quality and useful content, you will attract a lot of readers and fans. In return, they will book mark your site on various social bookmarking sites like Digg and StumbleUpon, which increases the link popularity of your blog. Search engines love sites with good link popularity as they want to present useful sites to their searchers. With this factor, you score another valuable point with search engines.

So if you do not have a blog, start blogging now. Choose a topic of your interest or a niche in which you want to enter into, and start allowing search engines to bring you tons of traffic to your blog now.

The first rule of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is to keep your topic simple and thematically focused. Some sites cover multiple topics on each page, which is confusing for both spiders as well as human readers. It will also make it difficult to find the right keywords for that web page. The simple rule is don’t cover multiple topics on a single web page. If you need to express more than one topic, create separate pages for each one. This will make your site both human friendly as well as spider friendly.

Finding the right keywords:
Once you know the topic of your web page, create a list of keywords that will be used by people in search engine queries to find the information you are providing on your web page.
Ask yourself these questions:

What kind of audience will be interested in the information you are providing in this article?

What are the possible phrases/keywords they may use to search this information in search engines?

How competitive are those keywords? If the Keywords are highly competitive, then it is better to choose some with low competition.

The above questions will help you prepare a list of keywords for your page. Once you have the list, you can do some research on how often those keywords where used in the past in search queries on major search engines. There are online tools available to find this data. Here are some of them:

Web CEO (Free version available)

Digital point keyword research tool (Free)

Keyword Elite (Need to buy)

WordTracker (Free trial available)

Now once you get the list of targeted keywords, you need to optimize your web pages for those keywords. Below are the basics of web page optimization for search engines:

URL:
Make your URL’s search engine friendly. Have your main keyword in the URL.
Example of a search engine friendly URL:
http://www.yourdomainname.com/topic_main_heading_with_keyword

If you are setting up a new wordpress blog, I suggest you set your permalinks to custom and add the following in custom structure text box “/%category%/%postname%”. This will make the URL’s of each post to have the category name and postname part of it.

Page Title:
Use your keywords in the Title tag. Each page of your website/blog should have a unique title containing your keywords or key phrases
Example:
<title>Title with Keywords</title>

Meta Description:
Put your keyword in your description tag. Although the weightage of keywords in description tag is very little, the content of this is still used by many search engines.
Example:
<Meta name=”description” content=”Description with keywords”>

Meta Keywords:
Even though major search engines don’t give much weightage to the keywords in this tag, place all the keywords and phrases targeted for that page in the page’s meta keywords tag.
Example:
<Meta name=”keywords” content=”All Your targeted keywords and phrases for that page”>

Heading Tags:
Html tags <h1> to <h6> are called as heading tags with H1 being the largest heading while H6 the smallest. So make sure you put your keyword in an H1 tag and an H2 tag on each page. Keywords in larger heading tags are given more weightage by search engines. Make your Heading tags appear near the top of the page.
Example:
<h1> heading with keyword</h1>

Bold Keywords:
Make your keywords bold in the article. Make sure you have keywords sprinkled inside your articles at the top and at the bottom. You can use variations of those keywords in the content. Bold text is given more weight than regular text by the search engines.
Example:
<strong>Keyword or keyphrase </strong>

Paragraphs:
Put your keywords in the first para of your article. Even better, if you put it in the first sentence of your paragraph. Try to have a keyword or variation of it in each paragraph of the content. Don’t over do it or else you may be penalized for keyword stuffing.
Example:
<p>Keyword in the first sentence </p>

Text Links:
Use your keywords in text links for all links – internal and external. Text in links is given importance by search engines.
Example:
<a href=”url” title=”Text with your keyword”>your link text with keyword</a>

Alt Tags:
Put your keywords in ALT tags for each image on your web page. Many web pages I have seen never utilize this alt tag. It not only helps in optimization, but also helps visually impaired visitors.
Example:
<img src=”url” alt=”phrase that describe the image with keyword”>

Comment Tags:
Put your keywords in comment tags. Have atleast two instances of keywords in comments on a page. Don’t over do it or else you may be penalized for keyword stuffing.
Example:
<!– Keyword Page Section comment — >

Apply these basics and see how soon you will get free targeted traffic from search engines. I strongly recommend you download the free version of WEBCEO. It provides a lot valuable information that will help you in getting high ranking in search engine result pages.

Gnaka.com is attracting a lot of traffic from search engines for a week now. The reason for this is high ranking in SERP for long tail keywords. This blog is featured on the first 3 pages for more than 30 keywords and phrases on Google. We are top ranked for the phrase ‘Genuine Online Opportunities‘ and fluctuating between pages 2 and 6 for one of the very competitive keyword ‘online money‘.

There are a lot of other long tail keywords that are sending traffic to gnaka.com and the traffic is extremely targeted. The bounce rate of traffic from Google is 14% according to Google Analytics, which I consider to be very good. The reason I am able to get the free targeted traffic from search engines is because I have applied some basic search engine optimization techniques.

I will reveal the techniques that I have applied in my next couple of posts. But for those of you, who are alien to SEO, below is the glossary of the terms that are used when talking about search engine optimization.
SEO GLOSSARY:

Anchor text
Anchor text is the actual text part of a link. Used by search engines as an important ranking factor

Back Link
A link that points to your page. Also called inbound or incoming links.

Bot
Short for robot (also called a Spider). Software programs that scan the web. Search engine bots index web pages. Other types of bots are not so benevolent, such as the bots that spammers use to collect email addresses.

Cloaking
Showing a highly optimized page to search engines while human visitors see a different page. Such practice is considered spam by many search engines. Most search engines ban cloaked sites.

Conversion
The amount of web traffic that performs an action when it gets to your web page. The action may be registering, buying a product, signing up for newsletter or any other action you wanted the visitor to perform when visiting your webpage.

CPC
Cost-Per-Click, an amount paid for a clickthrough to your web page.

CPM
Cost Per Thousand, the cost incurred or price paid for a thousand impressions

Crawl
This is the process by which a search engine indexes web pages into its database. See bots for more details.

CTR
Click Through Rate. The percent of clicks per impressions. For example, if you get 10 clicks for every 100 impressions, your CTR is 10%.

Dead Link
A link to a page that does not exist. Automated programs can be used to check your website to ensure such dead links do not exist. Dead links results in a ’404 Page Not Found’ error.

Error Page
A web page stating an error message such as “File Not Found”

Fresh Content
The term is use to refer to frequently changing home pages. When a search engine bot ascertains that a given page is changing frequently, the bot will revisit and reindex this page more often.

Gateway Page
Also called a Doorway Page. Usually optimized to target one specific keyword or key phrase without regard for readability, its sole purpose is to send traffic to another page. Usually created to capture high search engine rankings. This technique is consider as spam by major search engines and can result in a permanent ban.

Google Dance
The Google Dance refers to some noticeable changes in (SERP) search engine result positions during a Google update.

Keyword, Keyphrase
Words or phrases used in search engine queries.

Keyword Stuffing
Adding many instances of a keyword to a web page solely for search engines.

Link building
Requesting links from webmasters of other sites for the purpose of increasing your “link popularity”.

Link Farm
A group of web sites that are heavily inter-linked. Link farms are usually designed to inflate Page Rank. Search engines penalizes sites using link farms and may impose a permanent ban.

Link Bait
Useful or entertaining content which compels other webmasters to link to it.

Link popularity
When other web sites link to your site (back links), your site will rank better in certain search engines. The more web pages that link to you, the better your link popularity.

Mirror
An identical (or nearly identical) website or page.

Pay For Inclusion
You need to pay to get your site included in the index. Some engines offer an optional PFI (Pay for inclusion) program in exchange for guaranteed indexing or spidering of the site. PFI can be useful, but does not guarantee a high rank for a keyword.

PPC
Pay Per Click. Advertising sold by search engines that only displays ads when certain keywords are searched.

PR
Abbreviation for Google Page Rank. It measures the link popularity of web pages.

SEO

SERP
Search Engine Results Page. The results displayed by a search engine for a given keyword. Does not include paid ads.

Spam
In SEO, this is a search engine manipulation strategy that violates the terms and conditions of a given search engine.

Spider
See Bot (or robot).

Term Frequency:
The number of times a term occurs in a document.

URL Rewrite
A process of making your web site URLs more user and search engine friendly

User Agent
The name of the bot/browser visiting a web page.

Watch out for the simple SEO techniques that can bring a lot of targeted traffic to your blog /site in my next post!
