You’ve been asking for more control over the appearance of the ads on your sites, so we’re happy to let you know that you can now change the font face of the text in ad units on pages in Latin-character languages. You can choose between Arial, Times, and Verdana font faces. Please note that while font options will appear in every account, they’ll currently only be applied to ad units on pages primarily in Latin-based characters.

Google had heard their Adsense Publishers requests in Google forums for better analytics and stats on their Adsense websites earnings and today Google Adsense have announced on their blog that they are integrating Adsense account with Google Analytics. (Quoted directly from the announcement)

We’re gradually rolling out this functionality to publishers, and you’ll see an invitation link at the top of your ‘Overview’ and ‘Advanced Reports’ pages when it’s been enabled for your account.

By integrating your AdSense account with a new or existing Analytics account, you’ll have access to in-depth reports about user activity on your site. In addition to the wealth of metrics already available in Analytics such as unique visitors and visitor language, you’ll now have access to granular reports that break down AdSense performance both by page and by referring site. Armed with this new data about user behavior, you’ll be able to make more informed decisions on how to improve the user experience on your site and optimize your AdSense units to increase your revenue potential.

This new feature is not available to all publishers yet but keep checking your Adsense account for an invitation link in your Adsense Reports pages.

Google Adsense announced the beta release of Google Ad Manager back in March for some selected Google Adsense Publishers as a beta testing. Google Ad Manager is a hosted ad serving and management solution for publishers with smaller direct sales teams. Today Google Adsense announced on their Adsense Blog that Ad Manager is available to all Adsense Publishers, all those who have existing Adsense account can sign in to Ad Manager directly no need to apply separately to join. If you don’t have an Adsense account you can apply for it now. (Quoted directly from the announcement)

Now we’re excited to bring those benefits to all publishers. If you have an AdSense account, you can sign in to Ad Manager today. If not, apply for an AdSense account now. A Google AdSense account is a technical requirement for creating an Ad Manager account.

Ad Manager can help you sell, schedule, deliver, and measure both directly-sold and network-based inventory. It offers an intuitive and simple user interface, Google serving speed and reliability, and significant cost savings. Best of all, Ad Manager can be optionally integrated with Google AdSense to offer you an automated way to maximize the revenue of your unsold and network-managed inventory.

We’ve been busy since March; in addition to supporting thousands of new publishers on Ad Manager, we’ve been adding new features including:

Interface available in 32 languages: Do you prefer to work in Turkish or Vietnamese or Hungarian? Now you can! Ad Manager supports international currencies, too.

Ad network management: Easily manage your third-party ad networks in Ad Manager to automatically maximize your network driven revenue.

Automatic macro insertion: Save time and avoid tagging errors since Ad Manager now automatically detects and inserts macros from most popular 3rd party vendors.

Creative preview on live site: Preview the look and feel of ads on your live site to ensure ads look as expected before you start the campaign.

Day and Time Targeting: Don’t want your orders to run on weekends? No problem. With day and time targeting, you can set any new line items you create to run only during specific hours or days, or as little as 15 minutes per week. Use day and time targeting in addition to geography, bandwidth, browser, user language, operating system, domain and custom targeting.

You can now see them in your AdSense setup tab in your account. You will see new “Adsense for feeds” option there in your account. (Quoted directly from the announcement)

When you visit the AdSense Setup tab in your account, you’ll notice a new “AdSense for feeds” option. This means you can now use AdSense to place ads in your RSS feeds, allowing you to increase the reach of your content while earning revenue. Our salesforce will sell cost-per-impression (CPM) ads directly to the largest advertisers, while the rest of your inventory will be filled with contextually targeted cost-per-click (CPC) and CPM ads. This means that more of your feed items will be sold and with higher overall revenue, than with any other feed network.

And here are a few more reasons to try AdSense for feeds:

Receive higher CPMs and maintain a positive user experience by displaying ads specifically optimized for RSS feeds.

View detailed stats on your feed audience, distribution, and more through FeedBurner when you set up your feeds with AdSense.

Manage monetization for your feeds through the same account that you use to manage other AdSense properties.

If you’re a Feedburner Ad Network publisher than to monetize your RSS feeds you have to sign in to Adsense and visit the AdSense Setup page of your account . For more details visit Adsense Blog.

Actually it is nothing new to us, as you know Google acquired DoubleClick Performics Affiliate Network in March, It will now operate as the Google Affiliate Network.

The new Google Affiliate Network cannot be able to use by everyone. They say that they are targeting sites which have US based traffic. Google Affiliate Network is similar to the Adsense Referrals program, It enables publishers to apply for advertiser programs and get paid based on advertiser-defined actions.

(Quoted directly from the announcement)

“If you currently use referral ads, either to promote Google products or offerings from AdWords advertisers, AdSense Referrals code will no longer display ads beginning the last week of August. We encourage you to take the following steps before the product is retired:

Remove the referral code from your site(s): Please take a moment to remove all referral code from your sites before the last week of August, so you can continue to effectively monetize your ad space.

Run and save all referrals reports on your desktop: Create and save all reports related to the referrals program on your desktop, so you continue to have access to your valuable campaign information.“

So those of you promoting Adsense Referrals Products are advised to remove the ad and replace it with something else. They will stop working in the last week of August.

AdSense Management made some logical modifications to their previously announced changes in their referral program. A few days back AdSense made changes to their referral program. The changes were illogical. After considering feedback from publishers, the following modifications are done. (Quoted directly from the announcement)

AdSense Referral Program:
The changes to referrals promoting AdSense will now depend on where your users are located, regardless of your location as a publisher. You’ll earn $100 for every user you refer to AdSense who is located in North America, Latin America or Japan when they generate $100 in AdSense revenue within 180 days and they remove all payment holds. You’ll no longer be paid for users you refer who are located elsewhere. These changes will go into effect the last week of January.

Google Pack Referral Program:
Currently, you can earn up to $2 when a user downloads and runs Google Pack for the first time after being referred through your link or button. Starting the third week of February, each successful Pack referral will earn up to $1. This change will apply to all referrals for Google Pack and is independent of user location or publisher location.

Firefox Referral Program:
We’ll also be reducing payments for Firefox referrals from China during the third week of February. This specific referral payment change will only affect installations from users in China. Again, this is independent of your location as a publisher.

Well these modifications definitely make some sense. Although, the earnings from referral will decrease, the changes are logical considering the previous announcement.

Google Adsense is doing some real stupid changes to their Adsense referral program. They have announced on their blog that the Adsense referrals program is changing. Let me tell you, it is changing for the worst for publishers outside America and Japan.

-If you’re outside of North America, Latin America, and Japan, Adsense referrals will be retired.

For publishers not located in any of the three regions detailed above, we’ll soon be retiring referrals promoting Adsense. We’ve found that this referral product has not performed as well as we had hoped in these regions. Again, please keep in mind that you can still generate referrals for the other products listed under the ‘Referrals’ section of your Adsense Setup

This means if you are a publisher outside of the Americas and Japan, the Adsense referral program will be closed for you. The reason they give for this is that referral product has not performed well outside Americas and Japan.

There is not much good news either for publishers from North America, Latin America, or Japan. They got the slap too.

- If you’re in North America, Latin America, or Japan, the pricing structure for Adsense referrals is changing.

About a year ago, as an experiment, we changed the pricing structure for Adsense referrals so that when a user you referred to the program earned $5 within 180 days of sign-up, you would also earn $5. When that publisher earned $100 within 180 days and removed all payment holds, you’d receive $250. We have decided to conclude this experiment and return to the original pricing structure. As a result, we’ll soon no longer be offering the $5 bonus or $2000 bonus, and the payout for referring a user who generates $100 with Adsense in the first 180 days will return to $100.

It seems Google Adsense is facing tough competition from other Ad networks. With the Advertisers money moving away from Adsense, the need to cut the referral payout could be the start of their many other surprises.

I had seen this ad on my 468×60 text ads and large rectangle in my sidebar earlier today. Here is a screenshot of the ads with scrolling buttons on one of my 468×60 Ad unit:

This kind of scrolling navigation was first seen in widgetbucks. It seems Google is implementing a lot of changes to its Adsense Ads. First by allowing server side changes to Adsense Ads unit, then making changes to the clickable area and now different ways to show more ads!

And to be honest, I loved this latest change in their Ad unit allowing easy scrolling to view more Ads! Now let’s see how this performs in terms of monetization.
